I worked for a short while in a weaving shed in westhoughton and frannys mother worked there.I would imagine it was in mid to late sixties. She once brought in a signed shirt of Pele that franny swapped with him in the world cup.

When I used to watch football in the 70s/80s, you could guarantee that Franny would always give 100% every game. A great player to watch.
RIP.

Franny was my hero when I was a kid.

As a catholic I got to choose my confirmation name and there was only one.....Francis.

RIP Franny,

There aren't many legends of that era left, (of any clubs' football team).
Mike Summerbee is still flying the flag for City and long may he do so. Those were different times when Mike owned a boutique with his mate George (bless him).

Two gentlemen of their time who could teach today's players a think or two.

Anyway, back to Franny, I remember when he took over in th 90's and held City's AGM at Manchester airport because he said that, that was where the team would be flying from for European games!

A chap with a sense of humour or a prophet....... you decide.

A great player for Bolton Wanderers, Manchester City, Derby County and England who I had the previlage to meet during the time I was involved in coaching junior football teams.

A grand lad who apart from football also loved his horse racing.

RIP Franny.

Whups, Valencia, Nani and Young are in the top ten of the premier League... Young was that much of a cheater Fergie had a chat with him... anyway back on topic, Lee was a very good player and a little fighter, remember him going toe to toe with a Leeds player, I think was Norman Hunter....
